Getting started

Choose a game on the Home screen. Open the help button for that mode's short rules. Some games need a host or leader holding the phone, while others use pass-the-phone turns. Everyone plays together using the same device.

Sound

Check the sound toggle beside Profile on Home and turn up your phone's media volume. Also check whether audio is being sent to Bluetooth headphones or another connected device.

Timers and interrupted games

Timed games pause while the app is in the background or rules are open. Return to the game to continue. Closing the app completely can end the current game because scores and rounds are not backed up to an online account.

Secret cards

In On Your Head, the leader must keep assignments out of players' sight and hide the answer before moving the phone. In Imposter, each player should check only their own role and hide it before passing the phone.

Scoring and football answers

Initial XI is judged by the host or group; it does not validate every footballer against a database. Call It uses its displayed answer bank. The Debate is for opinions and does not have a single correct answer. Where an Undo control is shown, use it to reverse an accidental tap.

Profiles and privacy

Profile details are optional and stored on your device. They do not create an account. Edit them from Profile on Home. Read the EXTRA TIME Privacy Policy for more about local data, feedback and browser analytics.

Offline play and updates

The installed iPhone app includes its games and content. Opening an external website requires internet access. The browser version needs an initial online visit before cached files can be available offline.

During beta testing, install updates from TestFlight. After public release, check the App Store for updates. A website update does not automatically update the installed iPhone app.

If something goes wrong

Make a note of the problem before restarting, because restarting may end the current game. Reinstall only as a last step: deleting the app also removes its local preferences. Contact us if the issue continues.
